RV rental in Hobart
The island of Tasmania is located off the southern coast of Australia. If you are traveling Australia by camper, you can decide to take a couple of days to discover Tasmania. This island, discovered by the Dutchman Abel Tasman, is perfectly suited for a tour by campervan. The roads are quiet and the driving distances from one place to the next are not too long. Who wants to take time to get to know the whole island, should count on a trip of around ten days. The perfect starting point for your round trip by campervan is the capital Hobart, at the foothills of Mount Wellington. The capital has the atmosphere of a quiet fisherman village and the Tasmanian Museum definitely deserves a visit. Here you can learn more about the history and people of Tasmania before your RV rental in Hobart starts.
Explore Tasmania by RV
When you leave Hobart by camper and drive westwards, you will pass through a calm, green, hilly landscape to reach Mount Field National Park. Here you can hike through woods that remind you of the rainforest and have beautiful waterfalls. Continue northwards on your camper trip and you will drive through a wide area with woods, hills, and lakes, like Lake St. Clair, the deepest lake of Australia that was formed in the ice age. Through the ghost town of Queenstown, with quarries and goldmines, you will reach Cradle Mountain Park, one of the most beautiful areas of Tasmania. Continue your motorhome vacation in the eastward direction past the small township of Sheffield with its colorful murals.
Explore the National Parks
A couple of hours further along your route you will reach Launceston, the second city of Tasmania, with plenty of nice restaurants and shops. After Launceston drive your camper towards the east coast, to the white beaches, red rocks and turquoise waters of the Bay of Fires. Along the eastern coast continue your camper trip to a small town called Bicheno, where you can visit the nearby Fairy Penguin Rookery, a place where penguins get to shore. Continue further south to visit two gorgeous national parks: Freycinet and Tasman National Park, both good places for spotting wildlife. From Tasman National Park, drive back to Hobart where you can return your camper.
