Example Itinerary: Croatian Coastline in 10 days

Our colleague Fleur recently made a beautiful trip along the Croatian coastline and is happy to share her tips. This 10-day route starts and ends in Split and takes you along coastal towns, impressive nature and islands. Ideal for an RV trip full of variety.
Day 1: Arrival in Split
Pick up your RV in Split. Explore this historic city with Diocletian's Palace and the Riva promenade. A must-do is to get an ice cream at Gelateria Emiliana, considered one of the best ice cream parlours in the city. For the night, you can stay just outside the city at Camping Stobreč Split.
Day 2: Trogir (approx. 0.5 hour drive)
Close to Split you will find Trogir, a medieval town situated on an island. Here, you can visit the Cathedral of St. Lawrence and climb the St. Mark’s Tower. This tower was once connected to Fort Kamerlengo and now offers panoramic views over the city. Stroll through the narrow streets and visit the central market to stock up on groceries for the RV, buy souvenirs or experience local culture. Stay overnight at camping Seget, about a 30-minute walk from the old town.
Day 3: Krka National Park and Knin (approx. 1.5 hour drive)
On your way to Knin, make a stop at Krka National Park. This national park is known for its impressive waterfalls, clear lakes, and beautiful hiking trails. The highlight of the park is the 17 Skradinski Buk waterfalls, all flowing into a large lake. It's recommended to check the swimming restrictions before your visit.
We advise to arrive early so you can enjoy the 2-kilometre circular walk around the waterfalls, over wooden paths and bridges, in peace. The park also offers other forest trails that are definitely worth exploring.
Continue your journey to Knin, where you can visit one of the largest fortresses in Dalmatia, the Knin Fortress.
Day 4: Zadar (approx. 1.5 hour drive)
We continue driving north to Zadar. Where you can visit the Sea Organ and the 'Greeting to the Sun' light installation. Wander through the old town and enjoy a sunset by the sea. Stomorica Street, with its many bars and cafés, is recommended for a night out. In Zadar, there are several campsites along the coast, such as Falkensteiner Premium.
Day 5: Day Trip to Kornati Islands
From Zadar, take a boat excursion to Kornati National Park (round trip from the harbour). This park consists of 89 limestone islands with many reefs, rocks, and caves. Recommended stops are the largest island Kornat and the beach of Lojena on the island of Levrnaka.
Day 6: Pag (approx. 1 hour drive)
Cross the bridge to Pag Island, known for its moon-like landscape, sheep cheese, and beautiful beaches. At Gligora you can do a cheese tour; they also have a cheese bar where you can taste various cheeses, local delicacies and Croatian wines.
There are many campsites on the beach such as Straško or Kanic. You can also stay longer here and explore the north of the island. Pag has many quiet bays that are easily accessible with an RV.
Day 7 - 8: Plitvice Lakes National Park (approx. 2 hour drive)
A visit to Plitvice Lakes National Park is not to be missed on this route. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of the most famous nature parks in Croatia. You can follow various walking routes here, ranging from short hikes to full-day treks. You can also take a boat trip across the largest lake or admire the 78-metre-high Veliki Slap waterfall. Stay nearby at Plitvice Holiday Resort.
Day 9: Primošten (approx. 2 hour drive)
After a relaxing stop at Plitvice Lakes, drive to Primošten, a coastal town by the sea. Walk around the peninsula, visit a Babić vineyard such as Matošin Winery and enjoy one of Croatia's most beautiful beaches. From the Gaj Hill you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding area.
Stay at camping Horizont, from where you are within 100 metres of the beach, perfect for snorkelling.
Day 10: Returning the RV in Split (approx. 1 hour drive)
On the final day, drive back to Split to return the RV. You can end your trip here in a relaxed way with a cup of coffee on a terrace along the Riva promenade.
