Croatia: the coastline in 10 days

This 10-day RV itinerary starts and ends in Split and combines Croatia's beautiful Adriatic coast with historic towns, islands and some of the country's most impressive national parks. With relatively short driving distances and plenty of opportunities for hiking, swimming, sightseeing and enjoying local food and wine, this route is ideal for a varied RV adventure through Croatia.

Day 1: Arrival in Split
Pick up your RV in Split and take some time to explore this historic coastal city. Visit the impressive Diocletian's Palace, wander through the old town and enjoy the atmosphere along the Riva promenade. For a sweet treat, stop at Gelateria Emiliana, considered one of the city's best ice cream shops.

Campground: Camping Stobreč Split, just outside the city

Day 2: Split – Trogir, approx. 30 km / 19 miles – 30 minutes
Leave Split behind and make the short drive to Trogir, a historic town located on a small island. Explore its narrow streets, visit the Cathedral of St. Lawrence and climb St. Mark's Tower for views over the town. Stop by the central market to pick up groceries for your RV, browse local products or simply experience everyday life in Trogir.

Campground: Camp Seget, approximately a 30-minute walk from the old town

Day 3: Trogir – Krka National Park – Knin, approx. 130 km / 81 miles – 2 hours
Continue north and make a stop at spectacular Krka National Park. The park is known for its waterfalls, clear water and beautiful hiking trails. One of the highlights is Skradinski Buk, a series of 17 waterfalls. Arrive early and explore the approximately 2-kilometer circular trail along wooden walkways and bridges. Swimming regulations can change, so check the current rules before your visit. After exploring the park, continue to Knin, where you can visit the impressive Knin Fortress overlooking the surrounding landscape.

Day 4: Knin – Zadar, approx. 95 km / 59 miles – 1.5 hours
Travel west toward the Adriatic coast and the historic city of Zadar. Explore the old town and visit two of the city's best-known modern attractions: the Sea Organ and the Greeting to the Sun. Stay until sunset to experience one of the most atmospheric moments of the day along Zadar's waterfront. For an evening out, head to Stomorica Street, where you'll find plenty of bars and cafés.

Day 5: Kornati National Park
Leave your RV parked today and take a boat excursion from Zadar to Kornati National Park. The park consists of 89 islands, islets and reefs and is known for its rugged limestone landscapes and crystal-clear Adriatic waters. Depending on your excursion, highlights can include Kornat, the largest island in the archipelago, and beautiful Lojena Beach on Levrnaka Island. At the end of the day, return to Zadar and spend another night at your campground.

Day 6: Zadar – Pag Island, approx. 55–75 km / 34–47 miles – 1 to 1.5 hours
Cross the bridge to Pag Island, known for its moon-like landscape, beautiful beaches and famous sheep's milk cheese. Visit Gligora for a cheese tour or tasting, where you can try different cheeses alongside local specialties and Croatian wines. Pag has plenty of quiet bays and beaches to explore with your RV. If you have more time available, this is also an excellent place to add an extra night to your itinerary.

Campground: Straško or Kanic

Days 7 & 8: Pag Island – Plitvice Lakes National Park, approx. 150 km / 93 miles – 2.5 hours
Leave the coast behind and travel inland toward Plitvice Lakes National Park, one of Croatia's most famous natural attractions and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Spend the following day exploring the park's lakes, waterfalls and forest trails. There are several walking routes ranging from shorter hikes to full-day adventures. You can also cross the largest lake by boat and admire Veliki Slap, the park's highest waterfall.

Campground: Plitvice Holiday Resort

Day 9: Plitvice Lakes National Park – Primošten, approx. 220 km / 137 miles – 3 hours
Return to the Adriatic coast and continue south toward Primošten, a picturesque seaside town set on a small peninsula. Walk through the historic center, relax on one of the nearby beaches or visit a local Babić vineyard such as Matošin Winery. For panoramic views of Primošten and the surrounding coastline, head toward Gaj Hill.

Campground: Camping Horizont, located close to the beach

Day 10: Primošten – Split, approx. 60 km / 37 miles – 1 hour
Enjoy one final drive along the Croatian coast as you make your way back to Split. Return your RV according to your rental company's instructions. If you have some time left before your departure, end your trip with a coffee along the Riva promenade and enjoy the atmosphere of Split one last time. After 10 days of historic towns, Adriatic beaches, islands, waterfalls and national parks, your Croatian RV adventure comes to an end.
